Summer Fun!!!

Ugh...cavity #2. Why is he smiling??

We have had so much fun this summer and sad to see it going by so fast. Finley is busy keeping up with Drake. She started walking last month and now I have a hard time getting anything accomplished. She's been babbling a lot more and saying some basic words. (Ma, Dada,) Her hair is starting to really come in and am having fun trying to tame it in these hot summer months.

Drake has been so busy this summer with baseball, swimming lessons, classes at the library, etc. He's getting anxious for kindergarten and got to pick out his first backpack/lunch box. Drake will not be going to my elementary, so am feeling a little sad about that. I know once we get in the swing of the school year everyone will be adjusted...including mom.

We went up to my parent's cabin at Lake Vermilion (MN). Daddy even joined us for a couple days. The weather wasn't the best but we love to be up there rain or shine. We look forward going back up there the end of July. This time hoping for blue skies....momma needs a tan. =) Here's some photos of our crazy summer so far.

Pickle???

Drake at Waukee's Safety City. This is a week long class for kids entering kindergarten. They touched on everything safety. This was his high school buddy Mac who he met with everyday. He loved it.

I took Drake and his buddy Dillon to the zoo.

Who doesn't love dinner outdoors? Mom does...especially on spaghetti night.

We went to see Dan Wardell from IPTV PBS Kids read at the library. Drake loved it!

The pool has been our second home this summer.

The kids meeting their new second cousin....Kaleb.

Fin enjoying her first Popsicle.

We took a short vacation to Adventureland and stayed at the Adventureland Inn. Drake was more into the rides this year. Finley....not so much.

Somehow we got Drake on the Tornado. We sat in the very first car and his eyes were the size of softballs the whole ride. For some reason he didn't want to try it again.

Soaking up the sun at the cabin.
Having fun playing with the water table on the pontoon.

It's been a while....

Wow, I really put the blog on the back burner this winter. I guess running around after two kids and working full time it has gotten neglected.  Summer is finally here and we're so excited to see the sun. It's been so fun to put the craziness of school to the side and just enjoy being a mom. (some days easier than others.)   Below is just a quick glimpse of what we've been up to-

Finley Marie turned one on May 26th.  Every time I look at her I still feel so very blessed at this truly special gift that was given to us last May.Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever get to play with bows and pink fluffy dresses all day. We had her party  a couple weeks before and the weather was beautiful. She's keeping us busy with trying to keep up with her brother.

Drake is all boy and still into garbage trucks. Though we've really started to push other interests.=) He graduated from Wee Warriors and will miss all his buddies. He will go to Shuler Elementary in the fall and start kindergarten. I really don't know where the time has gone. His mind is like a little sponge and he loves being creative with his Legos. I'm busy this summer running him to baseball, library, swimming lesson....the list could go on. I know August is going to come too quickly. My goal is to post a couple times before then.

Finley always looking to her brother for the next move. Usually not the best one either.=)
Every Thursday you can see them by the door waiting for the garbage truck.

January and Finley is 7 months

We've had a great start to the new year. Finley keeps changing each day and Drake keeps us busy with all his activities. The kids were excited to go to an Iowa basketball game at Carver Hawkeye Arena....They even won=) The day was followed by Finley's first swimming experience. She wasn't so sure about the suit, but loved the water.

Matching outfits

Finley has such a "laid back" personality and is always such a happy girl. This is good news because it can be the opposite with her brother. She continues to enjoy her food and rolls to get around. I feel like we may be walking before crawling. She loves her brother's company and he'll occasionally shares a garbage can with her.

Hanging out on our 3rd snow day. Ugh...feel like I'll still be in school in June.
